about
I was out at a party with this girl I was crazy about, and she was flirting right back. Then as the night was winding down I told her I thought she was great and we should get together - unfortunately she introduced me to her boyfriend, a hulking douchebag. I was so pissed off I went home and recorded It's My Burden right away and it's one of my favorite tracks on this record because it radiates that frustration.
lyrics
I've got a burden on my shoulders
Which are breaking down because this thing is over
I'm not sure quite what you're taking
But it hurts to know that you are taken
I am such a fool, foolish people like me crawling on the floor
Just for the chance to see those eyes
Stare through me with no disguise
See no traces, show no lies
But nonetheless, you're by his side
I am such a fool, marching onward with broken hearts on my back
It's my burden, and it's hurting me
Until the pain is gone, until this heart is numb
I will take this pain and I'll march on
I've got a question - are you sober?
Too much to drink to think this over?
The blue in your eyes is growing colder
From the arm that's on your shoulder
I am such a fool, foolish thinking that things ever, ever change
Stuck with a strong hard-working zealot
Not much there, oh we all can tell it
Doesn't mean much, because it's not hard telling
Wrong from the right when there is no ceiling
I am such a fool, and as fools go we're really all the same
It's my burden, and it's hurting me
Until the pain is gone, until this heart is numb
I will take this pain and I'll march on
